Nur'Iman Ariff

Business Analyst bridging systems, delivery, and the people who use them.

NUS Computing honours graduate with 7+ years turning business needs into working systems across Singapore's public sector — from IRAS tax platforms to national healthcare at Synapxe. A Business Analyst by profession and an infrastructure engineer by obsession: I design and run my own server rack at home, for the love of it.

about

What I do

I'm the person who translates between two rooms that don't always speak the same language — the business stakeholders who know what they need, and the engineers who build it. For most of the last seven years, across Singapore's public sector, my job has been to work out what people actually need, make sure it gets built right, and keep delivery honest. Requirements gathering, UAT, and system integration are my bread and butter. It's the work I love, and it's the work I want to keep doing as a Business Analyst.

I don't just list AI as a skill — I use it to run my own operation. Autonomous agents are part of my daily workflow: instead of typing prompts into a browser, I stand up Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, run open-weight models like Qwen and DeepSeek locally on my own hardware, and call frontier models like Claude through the same agent pipelines to manage my infrastructure. When a process is slow or manual, my first instinct is to script an agent to handle it.

What sets me apart isn't the certificate list — it's what I do off the clock. At home I design, fund, and run a 32U production-grade server rack: Proxmox virtualisation, an OPNsense firewall over a segmented VLAN network, 15+ self-hosted services, and my own Git-backed build-and-deploy pipelines — entirely for the love of the craft. It's the reason my analysis is grounded in how systems actually behave, not just how they're documented.

The credentials are there too: an NUS honours degree in Information Systems, specialising in Information Security, plus PMP, PMI-ACP and PSM I on the delivery side, and I'm effectively bilingual in English and Malay. I'm currently finishing AWS and security certifications to formalise the cloud side of what I already do by hand.

When an engineer tells me how a system should behave under load, I know what that means — because I maintain my own environments. I know what it takes to keep delivery honest, because I know what it takes to keep a server running.

The homelab

Not a course project or a work sample — a genuine hobby. A full infrastructure environment I designed, funded, and now run on my own server rack at home, 24/7, because I enjoy it. Consolidated on Proxmox, segmented by VLAN, automated end to end. It's also the sharpest proof I understand systems from the inside.
